Are you tired of your dry, itchy eyes?
We take you through how to get over the discomfort and irritation of dry eyes, how to put in eye drops, and lifestyle changes to support your dry eyes.
What is dry eye and why do you need to use eye drops to treat it?
If you have dry eyes – you’re not alone. The condition is more common than you may realise and the frustrating condition is experienced by many people.
It occurs when the eyes do not produce enough tears or when tears evaporate too quickly. This can result in symptoms such as itching, burning, redness or a gritty sensation.
Dry eyes can be caused by a variety of factors, including age (!), hormonal factors and certain medications.
There are environmental factors that also contribute and we’ll cover these off further down to help bring relief.
Dry eye drops (also known as ‘artificial tears’) are specifically designed to mimic the natural tears produced by our eyes. They work by lubricating the surface of the eyes, reducing inflammation and provide relief from dryness and discomfort.
Using these eye drops regularly, can help you maintain your eye health and prevent further complications.
To identify the right dry eye product – have a chat with your GP, pharmacist or optometrist and they can recommend suitable brands to you, based on your unique symptoms.
Step by step guide to apply your dry eye drops
- Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water before handling the eye drops. This helps prevent any bacteria or dirt from entering your eyes.
- Tilt your head back slightly and look up at the ceiling. Gently pull down your lower eyelid down.
- Holding the eye drop bottle upside down and pointed towards your eye, close to your eye and place the eye drop near the corner of your eye. Squeeze the bottle to release the eye drops. Be careful not to blink or squeeze too hard, as this can cause the drop to miss your eye.
- Release your lower eyelid and close your eye for a few seconds to allow the drop to spread evenly across the surface of your eye.
Sounds easy right?
However, we know that many people really struggle with taking their eye drops in the above manner!
Common struggles include a strong blink reflex, anxiety or fear about the feeling of the eye drop landing in the eye, or ‘missing the spot’.
People also get concerned they are putting in too many eye drops, and thereby wasting product (and money).
If you struggle taking eye drop – EziDrops is your answer!
EziDrops was designed by a dad who’s son struggled with all those points above – so he created the unique EziDrops applicator to help make taking eye drops less stressful and whilst being effective!
Here’s how it works:
• Place the EziDrops upside down and put the nozzle into the top of your dispenser.
• Raise both the eye drop bottle and your EziDrops applicator up to your eye, tilt your head backwards and look up to the ceiling.
• Squeeze in the required amount of eye drops, blink to disperse them across your eye and then remove the EziDrops.
• Wipe off any excess fluid with a tissue.
EziDrops unique and simple design, means that you don’t see the drop coming (no more blink reflex). As it covers your eye – it opens the pupil more so you get better product absorption.
And as you aren’t putting the drop directly into your eye – it reduces the risk of eye damage!
